Respect Life: September is Suicide Prevention Month

"We proclaim that human life is a precious gift from God; that each person who receives this gift has responsibilities toward God, self and others; and that society, through its laws and social institutions, must protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence." - U.S. Catholic Bishops, Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities, November, 2001

September has been designated as Suicide Prevention Month for the Respect Life Committees of the Diocese of Charleston.

If you or someone you know is suicidal, in danger of harming themselves, or in emotional distress, contact the confidential National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text HOME to 741741. Trained crisis workers are available to talk 24/7. In cases of immediate risk, please call 911.
